I heard stories about beautiful girls,
Who made their presence known.
They're loud and proud, they speak their minds.
But what about others, the quiet and shy?
Their mute is mistaken for rudeness and hatred.
They evade curious eyes.
They're seen but not heard, they speak not a word.
All their thoughts are hidden inside.
They're crying out, you know.
Not with speech, but pleading silence.
If only you'd just stop for a second,
You may be able to find it.

Because the bruises from Daddy hurt to touch.

Thinking, why can’t it all be done?
For the elderly man looking up at the stars,
Counting the days one by one.
Do it for the children who wonder, does it end?
For the ones who feel left on their own.

My best friend is really shy, so she was my inspiration for this. Then there's these other people I know who are the exact opposite of her. Kind of interesting to me, the contrast of the people I tend to get along with.

I've been incredibly shy for most of my life. I've only started really talking to people whom I didn't know well in the past year. It's hard, being shy, but I'm starting to break away from it. I am a different person now than I was a year ago today.
Thank you for sharing this. I hope that, if your best friend wants to, that she's able to overcome her shyness, too.
