    Don't you ever wonder
    Why people think you're beautiful?
Why they think you're talented and smart?
Why they would waste so much time on you?

    Does it ever confuse you
    When people give you support?
I have no value, why do they care?
    I can't do anything, I can't be a help.
    Why do they even stay?

     A simple reason, really,
Why they think what they think.
They see who we truly are.
Beyond what your mind has thought up.

They don't see you through broken glass.
Through the window that's been fogged up.
By the insecurites and flaws you live with,
And the lies the world made you believe.

      I'm fat,
      I'm ugly,
      I can't do anything.
      I'm worthless,
      No one cares,
No one knows what I have to go through.

       Well, love, you are right.
I do not know how your life is.
But I do know that it's hard.

       Sweetheart, you are spectacular.
Don't think of yourself any other way.
       Your scars don't define you,
Hurtful words are just a lie.
You are more than you could ever think.
       Don't let stereotypes define you.

I know you don't believe me.
       I didn't once, either.
But darling, trust me on this.
I know what I see in you.
So, let me be the one to say,

Don't let those fools fool you.

I hope this brightens your day.

Well done. :) I know I'm going to opine similar thoughts on this poem, but, oh well.

You touched on the feelings of many: doubts, insecurities, the need to identify oneself, the craving of acceptance, and most importantly . . . the ability to accept oneself and be happy. I'm reading this as an examination of the vulnerabilities that we all have inside, but choose to hide behind our masks. Again, well done.

Thank you. I know all of these feelings and more are being dealt with, especially in my age group. I tried to word it in an encouraging way as well as in a relatable way. I hope I met that goal.

Thank you again. It means the world to me. :)

This is a very encouraging piece and very true. Many times we can only see what we feel, and not what is true about ourselves where others can from what they see. But we do tend not to believe them when they give us compliments nor when they brag about our good points. We only tend to believe those who speak negative about us and feel as though they are telling us the truth. It's best to think the other way around and believe those who give us compliments than those who bring us down.

Very well written.
